Pilates is a system of exercises using special apparatuses, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture by enhancing mental awareness and promoting forward movement and optimism. Similar to yoga but emphasizing your body’s core, pilates develops much of what exercisers need—strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, coordination, balance, and good posture.
Though it has origins as a floor exercise, at One Aum, we use the Combo Chair, Combo Reformer / Trapeze from Balanced Body, and Ped-o-Pull devices for all pilates classes.
